چکیده

To monitor the gradual wear process of gears, behavior at different lifetime phases has to be fully understood in theory. The traditional Archard’s model was mainly developed for dry contact. However, most gear transmission systems, gears normally work under mixed EHL regime, and two contact surfaces are separated by a thin film avoid asperity Therefore, is inappropriate estimate depth lubricated Moreover, numerical simulation helical rarely studied because time-varying characteristics. simulate more realistic, regarded as combination number spur with continuous angle. By estimating each slice gear, can achieved. Besides, this paper employs modified which suitable regime. In model, pressure derived from Hertzian theory, both friction effect, temperature, surface roughness, load sharing, lubricant characteristics were considered realistic operating conditions. sliding distance meshing position determined single point observation method. results illustrate that simulated regime much lower than condition, good accordance lubrication addition, increases but decreases speed.

A Transient Mixed Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Model for Spur Gear Pairs

In this study, a transient, non-Newtonian, mixed elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) model of involute spur gear tooth contacts is proposed. Unlike the contact between two cylindrical rollers, spur gear contacts experience a number of time-varying contact parameters including the normal load, radii of curvature, surface velocities, and slide-toroll ratio. The proposed EHL model is designed to ...

Elastohydrodynamic lubrication of faults

The heat flow paradox provides evidence that a dynamic weakening mechanism may be important in understanding fault friction and rupture. We present here a specific model for dynamic velocity weakening that uses the mechanics of well-studied industrial bearings to explain fault zone processes. An elevated fluid pressure is generated in a thin film of viscous fluid that is sheared between nearly ...

Methodology for the Control of Wear of Journal Bearing Operating in Mixed Lubrication Regime

The journal bearings subjected to heavy load and slow speed operates in mixed lubrication regime causing contact between the interacting surfaces and resulting in wear. The complexity of wear behavior and lack of unifying theory/model make wear control very challenging. In the present research work, a methodology is outlined for the minimization of the wear of journal bearing operating in mixed...

Analysis of Mixed Lubrication Effects in Simulated Gear Tooth Contacts

The paper presents results obtained using a transient analysis technique for point contact elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) problems based on a formulation that couples the elastic and hydrodynamic equations. Results are presented for transverse ground surfaces in elliptical point contact that show severe film thinning and asperity contact at the transverse limits of the contact area. This ...
